Friday 1/23 Family Message: Events & Happenings

Summary : Friday Message.

Happy Friday,

Four days often fly by fast with NH Semester 1 Finals starting this week. Today, students took finals in periods 1 and 4. Monday they have finals for periods 2 and 5. Tuesday they have finals for periods 3 and 6. Tuesday is the LAST day of the first semester. Grades from first semester will be available on the parents’ Source account and post on students’ official high school transcript in mid-February after grades have been stored. Talk with your student about their finals. Preparation is key. Encourage them to use our NH Tutorial Time. See the Finals schedule on our website.

Second semester begins on Wednesday, 1/28. Some students may have schedule changes and/or class shifts. Please make sure that your student looks at their semester two schedule on the Source for accuracy. If they have questions, please make sure that they go see their school counselor right away.

This week it was nice to stop in the Makerspace and see students diligently working to finish their food truck designs and concepts for their culminating Culinary project, Food Truck Wars, which started today during 4th period. Some of our staff participated as judges this afternoon and were able to enjoy tasty bites of dishes prepared by students including Caprese sandwiches, chicken picatta with fresh pasta, two different tacos, chicken wings, loaded fries, and raspberry lemon bars. I hear everything was delicious!

Registration information – what you need to know.

The online registration portal will be open from today, Friday 1/23 – Wednesday 2/4. Counselors will be visiting classrooms next week and working with teachers to help register students online during Mentorship on Wednesday, 1/28. Students received paper copies in Mentorship on Wednesday 1/21.

Save the date for the Winter Sports Dessert on Wednesday, February 25th in the Commons starting at 7:00 p.m. This is when the achievements of our winter sports teams and athletes are recognized, and awards are distributed.

Check out the Metro League website for what is happening in sports. Go Raiders!

Inclement weather

The weather can change, and we must be prepared. Please find information from SPS on how to navigate when local weather brings challenges to schools, students and families.

School Safety Measure

We want to make sure students are safe coming and leaving school. To help us do this, we make sure that every student entering the building using the school doorbell has their student ID card. Please encourage your student to bring their ID to school every day. If your student needs a student ID card, please have them come to the Main Office to request one.
