Friday 3/29 Message to Families

Nathan Hale Friday 3/29 Message to Families

Beloved Families,

I hope you had a great week and are looking forward to our sunny weekend ahead. The trees are blooming and it’s beginning to feel like Spring. To all families who celebrate, Happy Easter to you and your families this Sunday.

With one week left until Spring Break, I encourage you to connect with your student(s) and review their grades, syllabus, and upcoming assignments. This can put your student in the best position for success, and the opportunity for a more relaxed week off. As a reminder, there will be no school April 8th through April 12th for Spring Break.

FamilyWorks Resource at Nathan Hale

FamilyWorks wants to support students and families with food resources leading into Spring Break. Check out their Mobile Food Pantry on Wednesday, April 3rd from 2:30-3:30, parked next to the track/field and Portables 1-6. Come for family groceries AND no-cook options for kids and teens. Everyone is welcome to take advantage of this FREE resource. To learn more, go to the FamilyWorks Food Banks webpage.

FamilyWorks is onsite every Wednesday from 1:30 to 4:00pm when school is in session. FamilyWorks staff can assist with rental assistance information and referrals; enrollment in public benefits (Basic Food, Health Insurance, etc.); free diapers, clothing, books, toys and other household items; weekly groceries at its food bank, available through its Wallingford location at 1501 N. 45th Street in Seattle; connecting families within their community by offering multilingual playgroups, parent support networks, and other enrichment activities for families. Services are offered in English, Spanish, and Somali and other languages through translation services. No appointment needed. Just come to Portable 6.

Tutoring

Peer Tutoring update as of 3/27: We are excited to announce that weekly Peer Tutoring sessions on Wednesdays after school are expanding to include support for all subjects — including Computer Science, English, Chemistry. Starting this week, we will have Kailey Kim and Shriya Kurpad from the University of Washington to help out after school, in addition to our wonderful peer tutors. If you want help with any subject and any of your classes, join us on Wednesdays in Room 1118 any time between 2:30 – 4:00 pm.

Restroom Safety

There are times when our custodial team needs to conduct maintenance on restrooms, and there are also incidences of vandalism to a restroom that needs repair. In both circumstances, we do close the restroom that needs repair for maintenance or vandalism. In the future, if there is a need to repair damages or conduct maintenance, students will be redirected to use the Performing Arts Center restrooms as an alternative. Lastly, if your student shares that vandalism is occurring in the school restrooms, or maintenance is needed, please report this to administration, custodian, or school security, so we can take adequate steps to keep our school community safe.

Much love,

William Jackson, Ed.D. (he,him)
