Friday 11/4 Message to Families

Beloved families,

We have much to celebrate and to share this month. November brings Native American Heritage Month where we celebrate the rich histories, diverse cultures and important contributions of our nation’s first people this month in our school and classrooms. The Nathan Hale Library is featuring displays in both the library and main office for Native American Heritage Month, Election Day, and Veterans Day. As a reminder, next Friday, November 11th, we do not have school in honor of Veteran’s Day.

Honors for C89.5, Our Very Local Radio Station

Last weekend, C89.5 was presented First Place at the 2022 National Student Production Awards (Presented by College Broadcasters Inc.) for “Best Regularly Scheduled Entertainment Program”. Your NHCO at Work in the Community:  Raiders Supporting Raiders!

As we head into the final week of our Fall Funds Collection, we are excited to share that a generous NHHS community member has stepped forward to match the next 40 $25 dollar gift card donations. A donation of $25 becomes a donation of $50! Dollars donated during the Fall Fund Collection will be used to purchase Kroger (QFC/Fred Meyer) gift cards. At the Nathan Hale school counselors’ discretion, these cards will be distributed throughout the school year for food, school supplies, and other immediate needs. Needs have risen this year, and with the generosity of our families and our matching donor, we will be able to provide the immediate support that will make a difference.

Please go to the Alliance for Education website to make a donation to NHCO through the Alliance for Education. For “group”  choose Nathan Hale HS – Community Organization – 02227.

The NHCO is so grateful for your participation in the effort to provide assistance to our families. For questions, please contact NHCO representative Karen Selboe at NHCOgifts@gmail.com.

Senior SPREE is Back!

This is information for senior families and a sneak preview for other grade levels of things to come senior year.

Senior Spree is the very last Senior event…an ALL NIGHT graduation party produced and chaperoned by Hale parents and hosted by Grad Nights! This is a safe way for our seniors to gather and celebrate their graduation. This event has not happened since 2019, so it’s time to bring back the Hale tradition! Class of 2023 has had to sacrifice a lot during the pandemic and it would be so wonderful if they could be a part of this celebratory event, right after graduation and the graduation reception on Tuesday, June 27th.

Two asks of senior families – if you haven’t had a chance yet, please help us in our planning by filling out the SPREE survey Lastly, if you are able to help volunteer on the very fun SPREE committee in any way, please let us know by contacting us at NHSPREE23@gmail.com.

Opportunity for Hale Family and Small Business Owners

The Sentinel is our award winning NHHS student newspaper. The Sentinel staff invites all Nathan Hale family and small business owners to place an advertisement in a 4-page business directory included in an edition of the Sentinel.

What better way to support Hale family businesses than to locate their ads in a single location: a stand-alone pullout section of an upcoming edition. Inquiries on pricing and design specifications can be directed to tmlockery@seattleschools.org with the subject: Hale Family Business Directory.
