Friday 3/8 Message to Families
Nathan Hale Friday 3/8 Message to Families
Beloved Families,
Happy International Women’s Day! International Women’s Day is a global holiday celebrated on March 8th as a central focus of the Women’s Rights Movement, centering on gender equality, reproductive rights, and violence and abuse against women. This movement is central to our history in America. Moreover, I want to share my appreciation to all of our women educators at Nathan Hale High School! During March we celebrate Women’s History Month, by centering the historical movements, leadership, and contributions that women have made in history. I encourage you to ask your students what they are learning and engaging with in their classes.
Ramadan Mubarak! We have officially reached the month of Ramadan, in which Muslims will observe fasting for 30 days, from around March 11th to around April 8th. Ramadan is a worldwide celebration and experience, a time to deepen the connection with God and with family and friends. Ramadan is a time in which all Muslims practice self-restraint, forgiveness, humility, and empathy. Ramadan brings together diverse communities of people around the world, as well as within our school community.
Bite of Hale, Wednesday 3/13
Everyone is invited to attend the Bite of Hale on Wednesday, March 13th from 6:00 to 8:00pm! It’s our all-school, all community, evening celebration of food and cultures represented at Nathan Hale. Purchase “Bite” tickets to use in exchange for food bites. Sample food from cultures represented here in our community. Read more about it on the Bite of Hale news post on the NH website. We invite our Nathan Hale Muslim community to break their fast with us at the Bite of Hale! Leaders of our MSA (Muslim Student Association) will share what Ramadan, community, and the experience means to them before sharing an Iftar together. A prayer space will be provided; please bring your own prayer mat.
