Friday 6/13 Family Message

Happy Friday!

Wow, this is our last Friday Message before we wrap up the 2024-2025 school year.

We are now two school days away from our 2025 Nathan Hale graduation. Our seniors are very close and almost to the finish line. Graduation starts at 5:00 pm on Tuesday, June 17th. It is a ticketed event. This week seniors completed the senior checkout process to earn their tickets to graduation, while our underclassmen strive to finish their courses strong before their last day on June 18th. *** Please note: teachers communicate the last day they will accept late work from students. It is important to ask your students about their teacher’s late work policy if he/she/they have outstanding work due for the second semester before final grades are submitted.

Thank you to all the students and families who helped celebrate staff this past Wednesday by bringing something sweet and/or savory for them to enjoy. I truly appreciate our Nathan Hale community who pour into each other to make Hale a special place. Remember, the NHCO is looking for junior, sophomore and freshmen parents who are available to help with the reception in our Commons this coming Tuesday evening after graduation. Sign up to volunteer at the After Graduation Celebration

The Swing Dancing last Friday was a hit! We had a great group of dancers in our Commons enjoying the fabulous music performed by our students.

What your student can expect the last three days of school are finals on Monday and Tuesday of next week. You can find the schedule for both days on the Semester 2 Finals webpage. The last day of school will end at 2:40 pm. We will hold Field Day activities for the last two hours of school on Wednesday, June 18th. For the bell schedule for the day, please go to the Last Day of School schedule on our website

NH Students in Grades 9-11 started their checkout process today. Parents and guardians, please make sure the following business is handled before the last day of school, June 18th. Dismissal time on Wednesday is 2:40 pm.

Laptop Devices will be collected in Mentorship classes through Wednesday, June 18th. The last day to turn in a laptop and charger is Wednesday, June 18th before students participate in field day activities. Please make sure students return all laptops and chargers they have checked out this year to avoid incurring fines on their accounts.

School/PE Lockers: All contents in lockers will need to be removed before leaving school on the last day. Any items left in the lockers will be removed by custodial staff and thrown away so please remind your students to take everything in their locker home with them.

Class Textbooks: Any textbooks assigned to your student this school year should be returned to their teacher(s) to avoid incurring a fine.

Library books: All library books checked out this year were due by today, Friday, June 13th. Please make sure your students return any overdue library books ASAP. Students who wish to check out books for summer reading may do so next week but first need to return any overdue books in order to assist the library with our inventory process.

Negative lunch accounts: If your student has a negative lunch account balance, please pay off the outstanding balance. You can find information about how to pay your student’s balance by going to the district’s Meal Services webpage.

School fines/fees: Your student’s school fines can be found on the parent’s Source page. Please review these fines especially for those students who will be seniors next school year. All fines must be addressed as part of the graduation/senior check-out process. Either missing materials are returned to the school or fines should be paid. Clearing fines will reduce any stress for you and your senior student.

Nurse medications: Nurse Amy will not be returning to Nathan Hale in the fall. While her replacement is being hired, please send any health/medication forms for the 2025-26 school year to nathanhale_nurse@seattleschools.org. Parents, if your student requires emergency medicine for school (asthma inhaler, epi pen, etc.) please make sure to get a new medication authorization form signed by your child’s healthcare provider BEFORE the first day of school (September 3rd).

Athletic uniforms/equipment: These should have been turned in at the end of the season to coaches. Unreturned items will result in fines for your student.

In close, each day we get to choose to show up to be better, do better and expect better to ensure ALL students become honorable, skillful, thinking, global citizens. High school is a critical time in our young people’s lives when they learn how to have a voice, use their voice, and gain the essential skills to work with their peers and other adults for their own growth and success; it is magical. Seeing our senior class be honored at the Patriots Assembly, watching them dance and socialize at Prom 2025, and encouraging them during senior checkout to dot their i’s and cross their t’s brings me so much joy as their proud principal meeting them at the finish line.

The school will officially close for the summer on Friday, June 20th. Please check the Nathan Hale Website for school office hour information throughout the summer. School administration take their summer vacation throughout the month of July and will not be available.

Mark your calendars:

  • Fall sports starts in August so please have all forms completed by Monday, August 18th so forms can be processed in a timely manner. Returning families should log in to FinalForms and sign up for their 2025-26 sports teams. Please make sure your athlete has a Sports Physical that is current through the school year.
  • Raider Day 2025 is September 2nd. This day is for students in ALL grades when photos are taken for student ID cards and yearbook, final schedules are available, laptops are distributed, etc. Freshmen will start our day with staggered arrival times starting at 9:00 am. Look for your back-to-school email in August.
