Friday 5/30 Family Message
Happy Friday,
We made it to the last day of May in the school year. As we step into June, things are moving fast, and we have much work to do to get ALL students to the finish line. Thank you, parent/guardians, for your work in this BIG task. We got this!
Tonight is our Music Concert in the Tina Tudor Performing Arts Center. It starts at 7:00pm and is FREE! Come enjoy the event with your family. We are grateful for the hard work and dedication of our performing arts department, led by Katrina Sibicky, Jessica Milanese and Audrey Delaney-Hanna.
Saturday officially wraps up our Spring Sports season as students compete at the 2A WIAA State Track Meet at Mount Tahoma High School. Good luck to our Raiders still standing. Congratulations to Varsity Baseball being named 2A Academic State Champions! Once again, hats off to our Hale families who came out to support Spring Sports. Wednesday’s Spring Sports Dessert is a testament to the amazing support students get at Hale. Summer conditioning for teams begins Monday. Please talk to your coach about what is happening.
This week we had our Climate Action Day with workshops curated by Nathan Hale students and Mr. Lockery. It was a day we all should be proud of as students welcomed community guests and peers into teaching spaces to share important information on such topics as: Reducing Single-Use Plastics, Climate Action posters, Paint with Purpose, Low-Key Destroying the Planet: The Apocalypse, Sort your Sh!t, Clearing the Air: Understanding Climate & Air Pollution Where You Live, Sustainable Womanhood, “Freedom of Conscience” and “History Answerable to the Truth”, Driving Change in Transit and Communities, Flower Power, etc.
Today our ninth-grade students had the opportunity to be in community the last three periods of the day at the Freshman Olympics. Students played games, ate fun treats, tossed water balloons, ran foot races and spent the afternoon simply enjoying each other and the wonderful outdoors. We look forward to seeing our 9th graders complete their final weeks of their first year of high school.
As a reminder to families, our amazing partners at FamilyWorks are on campus every Wednesday afternoon from 1:30-4:00pm. They meet with students and families who need support with rental and utility assistance, food assistance, Apple Health, EBT/SNAP benefits, and more!
FamilyWorks will also be bringing their mobile food pantry to the Nathan Hale campus after school Wednesday, June 4th by the track and field! Stop by for a free bag of groceries!
Up and coming: Next week we will have our Patriot’s Assembly 2025 on Friday, June 6th at 11:20am in the Main Gym. There is Swing Dancing on Friday, June 6th at 7:00pm – 9:00pm in the Commons. Both Vocal Jazz and Jazz Band will be performing. Everyone is welcome. They will teach some simple swing dance moves at the start of the event so you can dance the night away! Do not miss out.
Semester 2 finals will be held on Friday, June 13th, Monday, June 16th and Tuesday, June 17th. For the exact bell schedule, please go to the Semester 2 Finals calendar page.

NHHS Graduation is Tuesday, June 17th at 5:00pm at Raider Field. This is a ticketed event.
Junior Parents: You are weeks away from becoming Senior Parents. I highly encourage you to look over the senior timeline and information to see what will be coming at you as soon as the school year ends. Senior year moves fast and presents many highs and lows for students and families. In preparation for that ride, as I will also be a senior parent, we need to start getting ready for the ride by understanding how the year will work and look, and making sure we have some of the following items completed to meet the SPS graduation requirements and tasks:
- Senior picture/Senior baby picture
- Learn about Seattle Promise and consider signing up
- FAFSA form
- Graduation requirements: WA State History, High School & Beyond Plan, 60 service-learning hours
- 2-3 teacher recommendations for college applications, trade opportunities etc. Ask now
- College applications (for example: Common App)
- $ for last Homecoming Dance in the fall
- $ for Cap and Gown (ordered in the fall, usually by mid-December)
- $ for Yearbook/ Prom/ Senior Breakfast/ SPREE
(SPREE is a senior parent coordinated event and not an official event sponsored by the school.)
May everyone have a great weekend. Enjoy the last few weekends of the school year. If your student has not met their academic goal YET have them work with their teachers directly. It is not too late to try and reach their goals. The last day of school is Wednesday, June 18th. It is a one-hour early dismissal from our regular end time; students will be dismissed at 2:40pm. Summer vacation is June 19 – September 2nd. Mark your calendar for Raider Day on September 2nd. This is also our PICTURE DAY. All students will need to take a photo for the 25-26 student ID card, yearbook and SPS safety book. Our website will have more detailed information about Raider Day in August.
In partnership,
Ms. Jolene Grimes
