Friday 6/6 Family Message

Happy Friday!

Today we celebrated our senior class and acknowledged some of the many accomplishments the class of 2025 has achieved at the 2025 Nathan Hale Patriots Assembly. Parents, guardians and families, hats off to getting your students, all students grades 9-12, almost to the finish line. Graduation is around the corner on June 17th at 5:00 pm, and the last day of school is officially Wednesday, June 18th. It will be a one-hour early dismissal at 2:40pm. Please note that Thursday, June 19th is a holiday so our building and office will be closed.

This Saturday is the Nathan Hale Senior Prom at the Sunset Bay Lodge. It starts at 8:00 pm and will end at 11:00 pm. It is a ticketed event. Tickets are not sold at the door. Students are not allowed any in and out privileges.

Monday starts a regular week of learning for students 9-11, with finals starting on Friday June 13th. Please make sure you take a look at the Finals schedule on our website. Seniors will start their Senior checkout process as they attend their classes next week, through Friday, June 13th. I encourage parents and guardians to talk with your students, regardless of their grade level to ensure they are keeping up with their studies, completing and turning in assignments and finishing strong to earn credit on their transcript. The final weeks and days of the school year can be the most challenging for staff, students and families, so we must work together to keep each other moving in a positive direction towards summer.

Tonight is the Swing Dance in our Commons starting at 7:00 pm. Dance steps will be taught at the beginning of the evening so you don’t need to sit out of the fun! Our vocal jazz and jazz band will be performing the most dance-able tunes for your enjoyment to dance the night away! This is a free event so bring the whole family!

If your student plans to participate in NH athletics next year, Spring grades count. Please make sure that your information is updated in Final Forms. It can take up to 15-20 minutes to fill out the forms, etc. I highly encourage parents and guardians to ensure that your students’ sports physicals are current and/or not about to expire. Schedule your appointments now so your student is ready to participate in Fall Sports. If you need support or have questions regarding NH athletics please do not hesitate to contact our athletic director, Darby Haskins at djhaskins@seattleschools.org or athletic secretary, Ms. Courtney Clark at ccclark@seattleschools.org

Monday, Yearbook distribution will begin for seniors who have pre-paid/ordered their yearbooks. And then on Tuesday, students in grades 9-11 who have pre-paid/ordered their yearbooks will be able to receive their books. We can’t wait! Please encourage your student to put their name on their yearbook right away and keep it secured as many yearbooks are released at the same time. Hats off to our students in yearbook who worked diligently on the 2025 NH Yearbook. It is amazing and quite the scene.

Wednesday, June 11th staff will have their second to last Wednesday in the school. I am asking parents and guardians to help me shower the Hale staff with treats of appreciation by bringing something sweet and/or savory to school for them to enjoy throughout the day. All items can be brought to the main office. On behalf of the Nathan Hale staff we do truly appreciate our NHHS school community and the partnerships that we have with families. We could not do it without you.

Nathan Hale Community Organization is in need of volunteers! Volunteers needed to support our amazing community!  This is a chance to have fun and get to know more people in our community via volunteering. Please consider volunteering for one or both of the following events. At the end of the school year, we need to collect student devices (laptops and chargers) so that software updates can be loaded onto the computers in time for the next school year. Please read this news entry from our website about laptop collection. Grades 9-11 students will be hearing about this from their Mentorship teachers. Seniors will turn in their laptops this coming week during senior checkout.

Have a great weekend. Keep cool and may you find shade. May Prom be everything our senior class imagined.

In Partnership,

Ms. Jolene Grimes
Proud Principal
