9/13 Family Message

Happy Friday!

Wow, we just finished the 8th day of the school year and pulled off the first Nathan Hale Raider Rally today at lunchtime. I am so proud of our student leaders and staff who made it happen for the school. The sea of Red on campus, positive energy and school engagement tickle my heart as students and players prepare for tonight’s matchup v. the Ingraham Rams. Kickoff is at 7:00 p.m. The gates open at 6:00 p.m. Students are not permitted to bring bags (including backpacks) into our stadium, the Northeast Athletic Complex (NEAC). Students will be turned away at the gate. Sorry in advance. See the Daily Bulletin for Friday, 9/13 on our website for ticket prices.

Each week we learn something new about our school and learning community as a new administration team. Today, staff and students made us proud by following the school’s safety protocols during a shelter-in-place and lockdown. When situations like today happen the school’s number one priority is to keep all staff and students safe and get communication out to families in a timely manner. It is a process, and students often message parents/guardians prior to official school communication being released, so please look for official school communication to verify your student’s communication to avoid any miscommunication and misunderstandings. This will alleviate confusion, frustration, and anxiety as we partner together and build trust within the school community. We are working hard to keep your students safe. If you have any questions, concerns, or feedback about school communication, please contact me directly.

This week I enjoyed spending some time with students in horticulture up at the Nathan Hale greenhouse. I witnessed students working in small groups on a Garden Scavenger Hunt to learn where items are in the greenhouse and enjoy tasting such produce such as: carrots, grapes, peppers and tomatoes. They learned where the shade house, toolbox, courtyard, dugout, raised beds, etc. are located within the horticultural center. This is a place to be and something our whole community should experience when students post plant sales and work parties throughout the school year.

In close, I encourage parents/guardians to read the daily bulletin on the school website. You can find a lot of information in the bulletin. Use the link shared above.

Have a restful weekend! Go Raiders!

Ms. Edwards
