Friday 6/17 Message to Families

Beloved Families,

I hope you had a great final week of the school year! On Monday, we celebrated our first commencement ceremony at Nathan Hale since 2019. This celebration was exciting and powerful, observing our students walk across the stage at Raider Field with educators and families present. On Monday, June 20th, we observe Juneteenth National Independence Day which is a federal holiday commemorating the emancipation of enslaved Black Americans.

As we close our first full year back at school in school since 2018–19, we would like to express our gratitude to our community. To our students, who stepped up to make this year the best it could possibly be in classrooms, in activities, clubs and athletics. They were amazing. To our families, who gave of their time to make our events, athletics, activities and staff appreciation happen and their resources to support our families and our school from gift card drives to HaleYes! donations and contributions. To our staff, who thoughtfully and purposefully navigated each change and challenge with grace and tenacity. We did it! Together.

Looking ahead to fall, Raider Day is Tuesday, September 6th, school starts Wednesday, September 7th and Curriculum Night is Thursday, September 22nd. To our returning families, we will see you then. To our Class of 2022 families, we wish you and your graduate the best the future has to offer.

Nathan Hale families and loved ones, have a great summer! I appreciate all of you and cannot wait to launch our school year in the fall. You can expect a message from me in August welcoming you back to our 2022-2023 school year. Please see our final message of the school year!

COVID Dashboard and Supports for Families

SPS has updated the middle and high school COVID-19 notification process in alignment with guidance from Public Health. Positive student and staff COVID cases are updated weekly on our district dashboard. Remember, the number of confirmed cases represent community transmission; exposures may not have occurred within our schools. The school nurse or designee will notify families when their student with a medically fragile or complex health condition has been exposed to COVID-19 in the school setting. Information on what you can do to protect yourself and your student from COVID-19 is available on the King County COVID-19 resources webpage

This last week of school, Nathan Hale had 13 confirmed cases.

Again, have a wonderful summer!

In solidarity and with love,

William Jackson, Ed.D. (he,him)
