Friday 3/17 Message to Families

Beloved Families,

I hope you had a great week and are looking forward to our sunny weekend ahead! Many activities continue to happen in our community: field trips to build on our students’ learning in class, the Math Department celebrating Pi Day on Tuesday, March 14th by giving a slice of pie to those who were able to recite the first ten digits of pi, and our Performing Arts Assembly on Wednesday. The assembly showcased our talented performing arts students and their amazing ability to lift spirits and bring joy with their song and dance, jazz ensemble, wind and string performances, some comedy and theatre.

Women’s History Month in the Hale Library

March is Women’s History Month and the Hale library has displays up in both the library and the main office. Featured titled include Lifting As We Climb: Black Women’s Battle for the Ballot Box, The Suffragist Playbook: Your Guide to Changing the World, and Gamer Girls: 25 Women Who Built the Video Game Industry. Families can browse these titles and more by visiting the Hale library’s online catalog. We also just received two shipments of brand new books across all genres. Students are invited to stop by the library to check out our new manga series, graphic novels, romance, fantasy, horror, fashion, psychology, philosophy and more. There’s something new for everyone to be excited about.

Last Call for Senior Grad Ads!

The deadline to purchase Yearbook Grad Ads is next Friday, March 24th. Grad Ads are a way to honor your senior in the yearbook with a personalized message and photos. Purchase now to guarantee a spot for your senior. Sales will close early if we sell out of available ad space. Follow the instructions below:

Please note – while the yearbook staff is sharing this information for those who are interested, it is not a required item for seniors.

Gratitude from Nurse Amy

To every member of the Nathan Hale Community that donated supplies for the nurse’s office, thank you from the bottom of my heart. I am so encouraged and appreciative of people’s thoughtfulness and investment in student health at this school. Thank you for your love and support. Go Raiders! For those interested in participating in future donations for the nurse’s office, please contact Nurse Amy at asdong@seattleschools.org.

Upcoming Music Concerts!

The Nathan Hale Music Department has 2 upcoming concerts! Come hear the Concert Orchestra, Jazz Band, and Symphonic Band at the Instrumental Music Concert on Thursday, March 23rd. Also, join us for the Vocal Music Concert, featuring Concert Choir and Vocal Jazz on Thursday, March 30th. Both concerts are at 7 PM in the Performing Arts Center.

Early Dismissal Procedures

The following are procedures for Early Dismissal. Please make a note and help us better assist you when you need your student dismissed early for an appointment or other reason. Students who need to leave early should bring their parental note (which should include your signature and phone number) to the Attendance office upon arrival at school. Parents needing to retrieve their students for an appointment should call the Attendance office at 206-252-3684 or email the Attendance office directly at halehs.attendance@seattleschools.org as soon as possible. Since the Attendance office secretary is usually at lunch from 1-2 PM, retrieving students at the end of the day is not always successful and can be chaotic. Calling early in the morning or as soon as you know that your student needs to leave, yields the most accurate service. If done in advance, parents would not need to come into the building but can just pre-arrange with your student where outside you will meet them.

Have a great weekend!

With love,

William Jackson, Ed.D. (he, him)
