Friday 10/11 Family Message
Friday 10/11 Family Message
Happy Friday,
Today we did not have school due to the SPS Teacher In-service Day. Staff had the opportunity to engage in professional learning that aligns with our Nathan Hale learning goals – Joyful, Safe, Anti-racist practices that help to increase students’ sense of belonging at school, improve the number of students in advanced courses, increase communication with families, and implement “Talking Points” schoolwide. Staff appreciated the wonderful pizza, salad and dessert lunch provided by the Nathan Hale Community Organization parents! School will resume on Monday, October 14, 2024, starting at 8:50am. Please help ensure that your student(s) make it to class on time. Protecting academic time at Nathan Hale is a priority.
This week I enjoyed seeing students in their Drawing and Painting class draw landscapes using shading and color to create space. I liked seeing students learn about interest rates and how to calculate the annual APR in their Financial Algebra class. I also enjoyed seeing students communicate with staff using multiple communication methods to express their needs and excitement within the classroom. Getting into classrooms is a joy. Every week I am more impressed with the great things happening at Nathan Hale. Thank you, parents/families, for entrusting us with your children.
Next week will be a busy week filled with the following important events:
Monday, 10/14: Homecoming Ticket Sales start in the Activity Center (AC). Tickets are $14 with ASB card, $16 without. Ticket prices increase on 10/21 to $17 with ASB card and $19 without. Guests forms due by 10/22 at 4:00pm.
Monday, 10/14: Intent-to-run forms for Class of 2028 (9th grade) are available in the Main Office. Completed forms and candidate info sheets must be submitted in the Main Office by Thursday, 10/31.
Wednesday, 10/16: Club Fair and School Climate Survey during Mentorship. Our goal is that each student will participate in at least 1-2 activities at NHHS.
Thursday, 10/17: Curriculum Night and Senior Parent/Student Meeting. Family resource and club information in the Commons starting at 6:00pm. Senior meeting starting at 6:15pm in the PAC; junior families are welcome to attend as well. Curriculum Night program starts at 7:00pm. We look forward to seeing ALL families at Curriculum Night. A true partnership starts with school staff partnering with families and building strong relationships to support students.
In close, I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.
In Partnership,
Ms. Jolene Grimes
Proud Principal
