Friday 1/20 Message to Families

Beloved Community,

I hope you had a great week and are looking forward to our weekend ahead. The last day of First Semester is Wednesday, February 8th. As we approach the end of the semester, I encourage you to review Schoology and The Source with your student to have a full grasp of how your student is performing in all of their classes. If there are additional questions and concerns regarding your student’s academic performance, do not hesitate to reach out to their teacher.

Next Wednesday, January 25th, we hold our annual student-led Unity In The Community! Our day is filled with learning experiences that were all curated by students, and the design of the day is developed entirely by our amazing student leaders. I look forward each year to this very special day!

Unity in the Community, Wednesday, 1/25

This will be an exciting day of learning, focused on community building. Students will be learning about themselves, the social issues in our society that impact their relationships, with a goal to develop understanding and respect for those in the diverse community they live in. Please note this is a school day and student attendance is expected.

Unified Drama Short Play Festival, Thursday, 1/26

This coming Thursday, January 26th at 6:00pm in our Performing Arts Center, the Unified Drama group will present 3 short original plays written collaboratively by the students. The admission is free and will run about an hour. There will be a short reception immediately following the performance.

Semester 1 Finals Schedule

Finals will be held on Thursday and Friday, February 2nd and 3rd. The schedule for those two days are posted on the Nathan Hale website under School News/Semester 1 Finals Schedule and also on the website calendar.

Volunteer Opportunities!

Winter Ball

Come chaperone Winter Ball! Friday, January 27th at the Leif Erickson Hall in Ballard.

To volunteer, send an email to  nhhs2024asb@gmail.com with your contact information. If you have not yet filled out the SPS required volunteer paperwork, there is time before the ball. This is a fun, dress up night for students and chaperones alike.

Senate

The NHHS Senate is our building leadership team. Senate is looking for a ninth grade representative and a tenth grade representative. The commitment is attending two meetings a month in person at NHHS from 4 – 5pm. Consider being a part of our student, staff and parent/guardian decision making body. For more information or to volunteer as a Senate representative, please contact Senate Chair Tony Renouard at twrenouard@seattleschools.org.

From the Counseling Office

Second semester schedules are now on the Source. Please review the second semester schedules and if there you are missing a class, or want to change an Elective course, your student should visit the counseling office during drop-in hours (before/after school or lunch time) or email their counselor. Counselors are determined by your student’s last name.
