Friday 1/14 Message to Families
Posted:
Beloved Community,
I hope you had a great week and are looking forward to some dry weather for the long weekend. In the message below, we include a “Respect The House” YouTube video made by our students, information about Yearbook Grad Ads, and our FAQ for COVID and it’s impact on teaching and learning at Nathan Hale High School. Lastly, as a reminder, there is no school this upcoming Monday, January 17th in observance of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. I think of Dr. King and his work each week when I begin our Friday Message with Beloved Community.
Respect the House
Our ASB has relaunched our “Respect the House” campaign. Please remind your students pick up after themselves and to help keep up a safe, clean and healthy learning environment. Watch and share this student produced short video: https://youtu.be/9NqGqDrJ360.
Student Rally
A student-led rally was held this morning in front of the John Stanford Center focused on COVID safety and gun safety. Our students decided not to hold a walkout today. Instead, they wrote and read an announcement at 11:00am as an act of solidarity.

Updated COVID FAQ
Other SPS school buildings are experiencing COVID related closures. Will Nathan Hale be going to remote learning? We are all starting to see more building closures. For SPS up-to-date school closure information, see the District News page on School Changes: https://www.seattleschools.org/news/school-changes/.
At this point, instruction at Nathan Hale is in-person. If we are notified we are moving to remote instruction, we will notify you. We do request that students keep their laptops accessible and updated by restarting them frequently in the event that instruction becomes remote.
What determines the closing of a SPS school building? Read the factors and data points that officials are monitoring on the district COVID-19 January Update page: https://www.seattleschools.org/news/covid-19-update-january/.
Finals Schedule for Semester 1
All families should have received an email from the school on Monday with the finals schedule for Tuesday, 1/25 through Thursday, 1/27. It is available on the Nathan Hale website calendar (click on the “Finals” entry for each date and you will see the schedule for that day). It is also included with this message below my signature.
With love,
