Winter Break closures - please note that NHHS Food Distribution (*see note below signature), Library Book Check-outs, the NHHS Teen Health Center, the Technology Resource Center and the FamilyWorks Resource Center will all be closed during Winter Break, December 21st - January 1st. Distribution points will open again the week of January 4th.

    Beloved Community,

We start with gratitude for our incredibly generous families who responded to the NHCO drive this week. We now have over three thousand dollars in cards to help our families in need with groceries and essentials. Many thanks to our families and many thanks to the NHCO who organized the drop-off drive. Our community is the best!

We are also grateful for the outpouring of support for the National Honor Society's Dignity for Divas Sock Drive. The original goal of the drive was to donate the funds equivalent to 500 pairs of socks. That amount was tripled by the generosity of the community. Despite the challenges of remote learning, this was the most successful year of the sock drive yet! Thanks to everyone who donated. You made an impact!

We are celebrating student work and what better way to celebrate than attending, from the comfort of your home, the Live Viewing Party of the NHHS Fall Play Laughing Out Life tonight. The show starts at 7pm there is still time to purchase your tickets. Purchase tickets at the Nathan Hale Theatre website! Forty students in our theater program are involved in the production. Support them and our theatre program by purchasing tickets and joining us. If you can't attend tonight, purchasing tickets will give you the link for the show to enjoy later. In the words of Mr. Roby "We are grateful we were able and inspired to put this production together despite the many difficulties. We do not have to be defined by our struggles but can instead be defined by our accomplishments and treatment of one another." Bravo!

We have one week until Winter Break! Please note that next Friday, December 18th, we will have a one-hour early dismissal so school will end at 2:50pm. There will be no change to our schedule in the morning that day. Our schedule for the asynchronous portion of the day (after lunch) will be as follows:

      Period 4         1:15 – 1:40pm
      Period 5         1:50 – 2:15pm
      Period 6         2:25 – 2:50pm

Seattle Public Schools is offering a new resource for ebooks and audiobooks! Sora can be accessed from the Nathan Hale Library catalog and the Clever Student Portal. Students can also download the Sora app onto their smartphones or tablets for mobile ebook and audiobook access. We have one more week of materials distribution before Winter break! Students are encouraged to get book recommendations from Ms. West at and to place holds on the books they want to read, then come to pick them up on Wednesday between 1:00-4:00 pm at the main entrance to school. Please find more information about what's going on in the Hale library in the December library video newsletter.

New opportunities to be in the yearbook

The yearbook team is hard at work and has tons of new opportunities for students to be in the yearbook! We encourage students to browse the December Yearbook Round-Up and choose one story or topic from the list to engage with. Among a diverse handful of other topics, we're currently seeking your sibling photos and senior baby pictures, which can be emailed to with the subject line "siblings" or "senior baby pics".

The Yearbook team still needs student photos submitted for about half of all current Nathan Hale students. Click on this link for the Yearbook entry on the Nathan Hale website for instructions on how you or your student can upload their photo. Student photos are due Monday, January 4th.

    Have a great weekend everyone!

    With love,
