    Background

    I am very humbled and honored to introduce myself as the new Principal of Nathan Hale High School! I can assure you that I share in our school community’s dedication to caring for our students every day while providing them with a rigorous and relevant learning environment.

    I am transitioning to Principal after serving four years within our school community as Assistant Principal. In these four years, I have worked alongside staff and students to further our commitment to our CES Ten Common Principles, and our commitment to honor our diverse student body and families. Together, we have worked continuously to advance racial equity and social justice in our ongoing professional development focus on culturally responsive teaching, project-based learning, and digital learning, through our excellence in education.

    I grew up in Seattle, Washington, where I learned from my family and community the values of education, social justice, and service.

    I began my career in education teaching humanities, economics, and leadership at O’Dea High School, focusing on ethnic studies and social justice. As a lifelong learner, I have a deep desire to continue to learn and grow in my leadership and understanding of the impact educational policy has on our opportunities to collectively grow as educators for our students. I am currently earning my doctorate in education from the University of Washington, with a focus on educational leadership and policy.

    I believe in our Nathan Hale mission of growing honorable, skillful, thinking, and global citizens. This requires that we continually grow in our capacity to build 21st century learners through our ongoing digital learning, project-based learning experiences, and culturally responsive teaching strategies, which all align to the focuses in our Profile of a graduate. I believe what is most important in education is creating a sense of belonging for all students, staff, and communities, which requires compassion, trust and healing.
