    Fri, 12/18 Message to Families
    Posted on 12/18/2020

Winter Break closures - please note that NHHS Food Distribution (*see note below signature), Library Book Check-outs, the NHHS Teen Health Center, the Technology Resource Center and the FamilyWorks Resource Center at Nathan Hale will all be closed during Winter Break, December 21st - January 1st. Distribution points will open again the week of January 4th. At end of this message, we've included additional resources that may be available during Winter Break.

    Beloved Community,

This will be our final Friday message for 2020. I want to share my appreciation to all of you for staying connected with us, and keeping us lifted with appreciation and love during these times. In these past four months, our educators have created rigorous, relevant, and culturally responsive learning experiences for all of our students. Our students have remained engaged through this, even challenging us to consider our less is more approach to our teaching and learning.

We remain steadfast in our three focuses that we began our school year with—our ongoing digital learning, our focus on social emotional learning, and our commitment to racial equity as we work to create an anti-racist learning environment for all students. These focuses have kept us steady through these times, representing a guidepost for us all. Please take time to unwind and detach. We have a lot of exciting teaching and learning coming in January! With much love and appreciation to all of you. Have a Happy Holiday break, stay safe, and we look forward to connecting in 2021.

    Appreciation

We would like to thank the Nathan Hale Community Organization (NHCO) for their ongoing support of NHHS students, families and staff. So far this year, they have organized gift card drives to support our families and have pivoted from the traditional December in-person staff appreciation event to e-appreciation & recognition. The NHCO welcomes new families who would like to join in their work. To get in touch with this fun and creative group, contact Katie Fleming at nhcoconnections@gmail.com. Thank you NHCO! We appreciate you!

Although the Hale library is closed during Winter break, there are still plenty of opportunities for reading! Seattle Public Library's Teen Library Challenge continues through December 31, and students who complete the challenge will be entered to win a $30 bookstore gift card.
