Friday 1/12 Message to Families

Friday 1/12 Message to Families

Beloved Families,

We had a powerful Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Assembly this past Wednesday led by Our Black Student Union. Much appreciation to Black Student Union advisor Mr. Ross, president Hiyab, and all Black Student Union leaders for leading our Assembly honoring Dr. King’s legacy, and the pursuit of justice through the Civil Rights Movement and beyond. It was most powerful to observe how the current climate of justice was centered in the MLK Assembly as well, with a call to action to address system inequities and focus on excellence. Special appreciation to our Nathan Hale Choir, Ms. Milanese, and Ms. Sibicky for such a beautiful performance of songs during our MLK Assembly.

As a reminder, there is no school this upcoming Monday, January 15th in honor of Dr. King’s legacy.

Possible Remote Instruction Due to Inclement Weather

If inclement weather conditions make it unsafe for students to travel to/from school, the district will notify families in the morning (generally by 5:00am) of a scheduled school day that instruction will be remote. Students should bring their laptops home with them everyday since Seattle area forecasts indicate freezing temperatures over the weekend and possible snow into next week.

Peer Tutoring Launches February 8th

Beginning February 8th, we will launch Peer Tutoring here at Nathan Hale. All students are welcome to come to tutoring and receive academic support. However, the peer-to-peer tutoring will be focused on Algebra 1 support for students. Thank you to Ms. Yaz and Ms. West for their hard work in ensuring that students are trained and supported for this opportunity!

From the Office: Dr. Jackson featured in the Seattle Times!

If you have a Seattle Times digital subscription, you can read it by clicking on the link to the Seattle Times: “Homegrown Seattle educator honored as top WA principal”. The article references his recent award as the 2024 Washington State Secondary Principal of the Year which you can read about on our Nathan Hale website.
